José Returns To Los Angeles With San Laurel, Agua Viva and More!

July, 2022

José Andrés’ ThinkFoodGroup returns to Los Angeles on July 8, 2022 with the opening of two new restaurants — San Laurel, Agua Viva, a pool deck, Airlight, and two bars, SED and The Beaudry Room, in Downtown Los Angeles at Conrad Los Angeles (100 S Grand Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90012). The hotel will open its doors on Wednesday, July 6. Designed by the legendary Frank Gehry, architect of Walt Disney Concert Hall, with interior design from world-renowned Tara Bernerd & Partners, Conrad Los Angeles is located at The Grand LA, Related Companies’ newest destination for shopping, dining, entertainment and a premiere place to live in downtown Los Angeles.

“I am so excited to return to Los Angeles, a city that I absolutely love! These brand-new restaurants and bars are our way of celebrating all the beautiful bounty that California has to offer,” says Chef José Andrés. “Los Angeles established itself as a world-class dining destination long ago, and it continues to be one thanks to the dynamic evolution and development like we are a part of at The Grand LA,” added Sam Bakhshandehpour, President of José Andrés’ ThinkFoodGroup.

“We are thrilled to partner with Chef José Andrés and ThinkFoodGroup to offer our Conrad Los Angeles guests an unforgettable, global gastronomy experience,” said Adam Heffron, General Manager, Conrad Los Angeles. “Building upon Conrad Hotels & Resorts commitment to sparking connections with guests and within the local community, we know these new concepts will be marquee culinary destinations for Angelenos and world travelers alike, and we look forward to showcasing Chef José’s creativity and culinary expertise as part of the Conrad Los Angeles experience.”

Conrad Hotels & Resorts is one of Hilton’s three distinct luxury brands and the new 305-room Conrad Los Angeles marks the brand’s debut in California. The contemporary property is home to ThinkFoodGroup’s restaurants and bars located on the 10th floor arrival lobby including:

Situated to the right of the entrance lobby and separated from SED by antique-brass framed fluted glass screens, San Laurel features soft earth tones and varied textures including linen, leather and velvet. A large central bar, finished in petrol blue, fluted glazed tile and a pale stone countertop, delineates the space, and a dramatic ceiling-mounted antique-brass frame displaying shelves of crockery and glassware. Classic banquette seating lines three sides of the restaurant, with a central island of back-to back banquettes situated just off the bar. The glass walls can be drawn back, leading to the restaurant terrace and blurring the lines between indoors and out overlooking the Disney Concert Hall.
